Communities within two miles of Old Main with a current starting rent below a thousand dollars in our data. If we hold no current number for a community, it is not on this page.

Starting rent is the lowest confirmed figure across all floor plans, which is usually the smallest one. Distance is a straight line to Old Main.
Live from the same bank the map reads. Cheapest confirmed start first.
These are our picks, and we're paid a fee by many of them when someone leases. Everything below is ordered by the deal math, not by that.
Why the number is the number
Three things move a campus rent down: age of the building, distance from Old Main, and leasing by the bed instead of by the unit. Every one of them is a real trade rather than a catch, and which one you are willing to make is the actual decision.
An older building near campus buys you the walk. A newer building two miles out buys you the finishes and costs you a parking permit and the drive. A by the bed lease lowers your share and hands you roommates you did not pick. There is no wrong answer, but there is a wrong comparison: judging all three on the headline figure alone.
Including the ones above a thousand, so you can see the whole ring rather than a filtered slice.
Today, yes: 20 of the 29 communities within two miles of campus that carry a confirmed rent start under $1,000. The lowest confirmed start in that ring is $700.
Some are. A four bedroom leased by the bed can advertise a figure in the six hundreds, and that is one person's share, not the apartment. We mark per bed pricing wherever we hold it. An unmarked per bed rate makes a page like this misleading.
We hold no current starting rent for it. We would rather leave a community off a price-capped page than put a number we can't back up next to a promise.
Parking, utilities, and distance. The cheapest confirmed rents in the campus ring tend to be older buildings, further out, or leased by the bed. None of that is a reason to skip them. It is simply what sets the number.
